It hasn’t always been easy for Caitlin Clarke’s rookie season, as many of her new competitors treated her with disrespect and sometimes even nasty attitudes. However, the Indiana Fever star has weathered all the bullying and cruelty and maintained a positive attitude. Her first few weeks have been rocky and she’s had some unpleasant experiences, but as of now, she’s in control.
Clark has done something no one has done before in women’s basketball. It may sound like a cliché to say, but it’s absolutely true: She is playing at a level completely different from anyone in the WNBA now or ever.
Essentially, the Iowa native plays a lot like Larry Bird did when he entered the NBA in 1979: She uses the whole court, makes subtle passes, makes rainbow passes, gets past guards and torments defenders with her laser-sharp passes.
In other words, she’s playing in a way that surprises and delights fans, as she did Wednesday night, and because she’s able to do that, attendance is soaring.
Simply put, Clark is revolutionizing the sport and it’s great to see.
