Mbappe’s account was compromised overnight.
Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappe’s Twitter account was hacked on Wednesday night, sending out a series of bizarre messages.
Mbappe has scored one goal in his first three games since joining Real on a free transfer and his move to the Bernabeu is seen as one of world football’s biggest transfers in recent years.
However, off the pitch, he had to deal with issues with his social media accounts being compromised by unknown users.
The main motivation behind this seems to be cryptocurrency related.
The user who hacked Mbappe’s account then made a series of posts about Manchester United, claiming that Mbappe would join the team in 2028.
The account subsequently made several posts about Tottenham, before asking popular streamer Angry Zinj if he could join Garth and Turf, the professional club team that also includes Luke Littler and Wayne Rooney.
He also claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is a better player than Lionel Messi.
He then quoted several “football Twitter” users who then began promoting a cryptocurrency scam, the main motive behind the hacking of several other high-profile accounts during Euro 2024, including that of Jamie Carragher.
The tweet has since been deleted, seemingly indicating that Mbappe and his team have regained access to the verified account.
But as of early Thursday morning, none of his tweets from the past 18 months were visible, and going to the replies section shows no posts at all.
However, posts have since slowly started to return, with tweets going back to August 2024 now visible.
