In its quest to be the “all-purpose app,” Elon Musk introduced several features into X Apps (formerly Twitter). Some of the features, like Grok AI, came out of nowhere and made the app a bit more fun (at least for premium subscribers). Now, X is teasing another feature, X Conference, to be released soon.
My first conference meeting with my amazing friends @X and Translator Teammate.
It’s already a strong alternative to Google Hangouts, Zoom, AWS Chime, and of course Microsoft Teams 🤠

X employee Chris Park’s post shows him using the feature for the first time, and he says it’s already a strong alternative to other video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Google Hangouts, and even Microsoft Teams.
The feature appears to have a minimalist design with only the essential buttons added. The feature will reportedly allow you to join video conference calls with multiple people with less switching on the main panel.
However, this isn’t the first time this feature has been talked about: another X user, Nima Owji, gave us a sneak peek at what the feature will look like, and also mentioned that the conferencing feature will support spatial audio.

It even supports spatial audio! pic.twitter.com/rgavIOFAlr

There isn’t much information about this new feature, as the main sources are teasers from X employees and Elon Musk’s confirmation with a fire emoji. It remains to be seen how many users it will support, whether it will be a premium feature only, or if it will come with other features that will make it stand out from other video conferencing apps.
For now, all we can do is wait for more information from the team. The company already has a very successful mass engagement feature called X Space, and with that success, this new video conferencing feature could be truly groundbreaking.
