Heavy rain and hail fell in parts of the country on Wednesday, August 28, as the UAE weather transitioned from mid-summer to summer.
Heavy rain accompanied by hail fell in Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, while moderate to light rain fell in Ras Al Khaimah, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The UAE Meteorological Department had earlier issued orange and yellow alerts, predicting rain in some areas.

The Meteorological Agency said some parts of the eastern part of the country could experience convective clouds accompanied by rainfall and strong winds of up to 40 kilometres per hour.

Abu Dhabi Police issued warnings to drivers, urging them to exercise caution due to the rainy weather. Authorities instructed drivers to follow the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office also issued a weather warning, urging citizens to adhere to revised speed limits, avoid ravines, keep first aid kits ready and have alternative light sources on hand.
The NCM also said that the highest temperature recorded in the country on Wednesday was 49.6°C.
The meteorological agency said residents should prepare for fog over the next few days, especially when driving on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi road.
Weather conditions across the country were unsettled on Tuesday, August 27, with some areas experiencing hail, rain and dusty weather despite temperatures reaching 50.7°C.
