Temperatures continued to rise, reaching 50.7°C in Suihan (Al Ain) on August 27, recorded at 1:30pm local time, according to the National Meteorological Center.
The UAE recorded temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius twice in July. Though the heat continues, the peak of summer is over with the sighting of Suhail on August 24.

However, the temperature does not drop immediately, but gradually at night. The period in which the inhabitants are currently in (“Suhurya” – about 40 days after the rising of the star) marks the first weather changes, when the city will move from harsh summer to cooler temperatures.
Amid the high temperatures, the UAE government has imposed a lunch break from June 15 to September 15, providing some relief to residents, especially those who work outdoors. Working in direct sunlight or outdoors is prohibited between 12.30pm and 3pm.
Companies that do not respect the lunch break will be fined 5,000 dirhams for each employee, with the fine rising to a maximum of 50,000 dirhams if multiple employees are working during the break.
UAE authorities also frequently distribute food, water and other necessities to workers to help them avoid heatstroke during hot weather.
