YouTube is expanding its Comment Topics feature, which uses AI to categorize video comments, to more languages.
As you can see from this example, YouTube’s Comments Topics, which were first introduced last November, allow you to filter a video’s comments into separate categories for easy sorting.
When you tap on the “Comments” section of a video that has this enabled, you’ll also be able to tap on “Topics,” which will bring up a selection of topic areas depending on what the discussion is about.
YouTube expanded comment topics to its most commented short videos in June, and is now rolling it out in more languages, giving more users access to AI-filtered discussions.
According to the YouTube description:
“We’re expanding our Comment Topics experiment to include all languages supported by YouTube Comments. We received positive feedback when we launched the feature in larger comment sections of our English videos, so we’re excited to test it in more languages and content.”
And in addition to making it easier for viewers to engage, YouTube said creators can also use comment summaries to improve their efforts.
Creators can tap into comment discussions to see what people are saying and even get content inspiration from the buzz in the conversation.
At the same time, if the author wants to delete a topic, they can delete individual comments that appear under a particular topic.
This is an interesting way to use AI filtering and could help increase engagement and interaction with YouTube clips.
According to YouTube, the feature is being rolled out exclusively to videos with a lot of comments.
