As the transfer window nears its final stages, one of the most intriguing tales yet to be resolved is the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with transfer experts David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano saying Chelsea and PSG are still interested in the striker.
The Napoli striker, who was widely expected to leave the Serie A club earlier than this stage of the summer transfer window, remains the centre of intense speculation with several top European clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG all showing interest of one form or another.
Several Saudi Arabian clubs have also expressed interest in the 25-year-old, but he has shown little appetite for a move to the Middle East at the moment.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Backpage podcast, renowned journalist David Ornstein highlighted that Osimhen could be involved in a dramatic move before the transfer deadline.
“We understand this will happen on transfer deadline day and it will be one of the dramatic storylines as to where Victor Osimhen ends up,” Ornstein said.
“Chelsea are interested in him but the question is what shape the deal will take. Who else could there be? Perhaps PSG have previously shown a strong interest in Osimhen so that could be a catalyst. He is a big-name striker with a box-office reputation.”
The Nigerian’s next destination remains unclear but with time running out, the situation could move quickly at the last minute.
Meanwhile, another transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has revealed that PSG are yet to submit a formal offer to Napoli, but are expected to make a belated offer before Friday’s deadline.
The 25-year-old Nigerian striker has impressed with Napoli over the past three seasons, scoring 76 goals and providing 18 assists in 133 appearances.
