Professional mixed martial artist Andrew Osborne pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter and was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in state prison, according to the Atlantic County, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office.
Osborne, 35, admitted to stabbing to death 47-year-old Brian Wilkinson in a hotel room in Atlantic City, N.J. He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence in New Jersey State Prison (NJSP) before being eligible for probation.
According to a statement from the prosecution, Osborne stabbed Wilkinson in the head and neck at Ocean Casino on Sept. 23, 2022. He then fled to Philadelphia, where he was later found and arrested by police.
Authorities previously said in court documents (via NJ.com) that Osborne entered Wilkinson’s hotel room at 7:11 a.m. local time and left at 7:30 a.m. Osborne allegedly left Wilkinson’s hotel room with his shoes and pants on. Wilkinson’s body was discovered at 1:30 p.m. local time.
Osborne has competed in 20 professional mixed martial arts bouts, including a World Series of Fighting (WSOF) bout loss to Ozzy Dugrubgov in 2013. His professional career lasted from 2011 to 2017, during which he had seven wins, 11 losses, one draw, and one no contest.
