So how is he still walking around after trying to kill 84 people twice. If a black passenger did this he would never see the light of day but a sweet talking manipulating white guy can get a movie and book deal. Not done hearing about this guy. He should be in a padded cell not walking around in public.
Scott was his secret lover 😅
This is sick but of course hes white so the world is going to believe him

Is he serious
Hiiiiiiii on shrooms.
Ummm, that's a pretty huge mistake. You didn't think mushrooms might impact your abilities as a pilot? Come on
So he does drugs and then flies jumpseat in the cockpit!😨😨😳😳
The comment section is a clear indicator of society's lack of understanding of mental health and compassion. There's a serious issue in aviation where the ENTIRE career of a pilot and Air Traffic Controller can be ruined because they feel the same human emotions that other people feel. This results in a culture where people keep quiet and society's lack of understanding also helps with that toxic culture of secrecy. Joe is a good guy who ended up in a bad situation. One doesn't create and maintain the long professional career and family that he has and destroy that all in one second, without reason.
Pilots are human beings too that deal with stuff.
Psy mushrooms…magic mushrooms…
He knew what they would do…
Mushrooms aren’t medication. Why didn’t he take antidepressant’s prescribed by a doctor. Sorry this dude needs to go to jail. Idc ab his mental health and self medicating
What a wife, thats all i got to say.
The creepy smirk and self-victimization is WILD. Why weren't any questions asked of/about the people on that flight he could have killed!?! It's not sitting right with me that this man traumatized the hell out of SO many people that day but wants to make this about his own mental health struggle. I see zero concern for the safety and well-being of other people, just himself and his reputation. I dont know a single human alive that isn't suffering with/from depression – but that IS NOT an excuse for wilfully endangering the lives of others. This isn't REALLY about advocacy for pilots (who DO need and deserve accessible and affordable mental health, rest and recovery resources that should be encouraged by airlines, not shamed/penalized or minimized for admitting to having a problem and needing help). But the absolute AUDACITY to create a literal nightmare of a crisis for innocent people on the aircraft and cause permanent mental health issues for everyone involved (in the air and on the ground + people's loved ones worried sick about them!). Eeeek
I get why he was worried but there is a way to get help off the books. That’s what astronauts did in the old days. There’s no way taking illegal mushrooms in god knows what dosage is better than paying out of pocket for real medications. He is responsible for what happened.
people need to have more understanding, the human brain can sometimes pull you offline. mental health issues are real and yes they can be awful and dangerous but we need to take it more seriously as a society (NOT JUST POSTING INSTAGRAM IMAGES) but actually showing empathy when horrible hings happen.
All the airlines have Substance Abuse and Mental Health Assistance Hotlines which Employees made aware of. Its a program in place that works. If your a Pilot, Mechanic or Flight attendant and you test positive on a Random Drug or Alcohol test you will be terminated. Period. These systems are in place and are and have been effective.
Should someone be entrusted to fly while suffering from severe depression?
I’ve never worked in aviation. I enjoy watching pilot debriefs and analysis of flights by those in the aviation industry. Flying an aircraft appears to require immense skill, awareness, and control-far more than I realized before watching videos from aviation professionals. As someone who struggles with depression, I understand how mental health can impact your focus and abilities. While it must be incredibly difficult to consider stepping away from something you love, it’s crucial to think about the lives at stake.
“ best friend” yeaaaa sureeeee. This is garbage. Remember 9/11? Remember flight 93? Remember the German pilot? This guy should not be smiling on tv, he should be in prison for the rest of his life, or preferably death.
🧢
Oh the poor Poor POOR BABY! Put kid gloves on and slap him on the wrist oh so very gently. WHITE. PRIVILEGE
Sounds like an intelligent person going through some dangerous mental health issues.
0:15 What we think we know??? NO! We know it! I don’t care what the excuses are! I would NEVER have trusted that pilot!
Pilot health? You took mushrooms, not a medicated microdose, you just took some mushrooms. PRISON.
White privilege is almost crashing a plane and killing everyone but getting to do an interview about it when you should be in jail
All I heard was that he tried to shut the engine off and open an emergency door. He just made a public confession. It’s sad he is blaming drugs instead of taking responsibility
The interviewer let him skate by as to why he broke FAA rules and took the shrooms to begin with. His certificates were revoked and I hope it stays that way. Poor decisions by pilots don’t bode well for safety.
Not allowed to drink flying a plane; why would anyone think drugs are any different? His wife is a jerk for going along with him. Hope there is severe punishment. More concern for his career than a plane full of people. He SHOULDN'T have been flying, clearly.
Mushrooms don’t last that long.
Damage control. Guy should not be allowed within 10 km of an airplane or airport. Should he go to jail? Well, if he can be kept away from the public for life in some other way, ok.
