Tune in to this week’s “Spinning Back Clique,” MMA Junkie’s weekly live show covering the biggest topics in mixed martial arts.
On this week’s panel, Matthew Wells, Mike Vaughn and Nolan King joined host “Gorgeous” Jorge Garcia to discuss and debate the following topics:
UFC on ESPN 62 took place Saturday in Las Vegas, with Caio Borrallo scoring a breakthrough win over Jared Cannonier in the middleweight division in the main event. Will Borrallo become a title contender? The panel speculates and discusses other notable results from the last UFC event in August. Tom Aspinall seems tired of being tossed around at heavyweight, and is doing everything in his power to get a title unification bout with Jon Jones, with videos, social media posts, and even rumors of an injury to Stipe Miocic. But do they mean anything? Promotion is underway for Francis Ngannou’s return to MMA competition, facing Renan Ferreira on October 19 in a PFL pay-per-view event. The two men faced off for the first time, and a press conference was held, but Ferreira’s comments, which were thought to have been misconstrued, became the subject of controversy. UFC champions Ilia Topuria and Belal Muhammad, as well as former two-division champion Henry Cejudo, spoke to MMA Junkie last week about their respective future plans. With UFC 2019 fast approaching, Dana White was not happy when Merab Dvalishvili posted footage of a cut he sustained while training with less than three weeks to go, and Sean O’Malley expressed displeasure with the way the card was being promoted.
