It was reported Monday that the Kansas City Chiefs will be reuniting with veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, adding another member to the team’s budding offensive line.
Smith-Schuster last played in Kansas City as part of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 52 campaign in 2022. He spent last season with the New England Patriots and appeared poised to be a major contributor to first-year head coach Jerrod Mayo’s offense until he was fired on Aug. 9.
Specific details regarding Smith-Schuster’s contract have yet to be reported, and while his addition is not expected to have a significant impact on Kansas City’s salary cap, it could have a major impact on the Chiefs’ offense ahead of their regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5.
While it’s unlikely Smith-Schuster will compete for playing time with Rushe Rice, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown or Xavier Worthy, fans on Twitter seem to think he could be a boon to Kansas City’s new-look offense.

If JuJu Smith-Schuster joins the Chiefs, the Patriots would get his compensation from the defending Super Bowl champions, also known as Taylor Swift’s favorite NFL team, counted against their 2025 cap. https://t.co/wpldwuL4yJ
