LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Hassan Murtaza has said that his party is not seeking any power sharing.
He expressed these views after the conclusion of a joint committee meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the PPP at the Government House on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by leaders of both the parties. Ishaq Dar and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf were co-chairs while Rana Sanaullah, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Azam Nazir Tarar and Malik Ahmad Khan represented the PML-N.
From the PPP side, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Hassan Murtaza attended the meeting, while Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan, Nadim Afzal Chan and Ali Haider Gilani participated via video link. The meeting reviewed the progress on power-sharing commitments.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Hassan Murtaza said the discussions were constructive and positive progress had been made. He made it clear that the PPP was not seeking power-sharing.
“The PPP is focusing on reducing inflation and lawlessness. A sub-committee has been formed to address these issues. The sub-committee will give its recommendations within a week and there have been no political pronouncements from either side so it would not be correct to infer that the PPP is planning to take a tough stance on the government,” he added.
