Jenna Ortega reveals ‘scary’ reason for deleting Twitter over ‘AI hate’
Jenna Ortega recently made a shocking revelation regarding the deletion of her Twitter account.
The 21-year-old revealed that when she was 14, she received a direct message containing an AI-generated sexualised image of herself.
“I hate AI. AI could be used for amazing things. Would I have loved to create a Twitter account at 14 years old because I had to, and look at salacious edited content of myself as a child? No. It’s horrifying. It’s corrupting. It’s wrong,” she said in a conversation with The New York Times.
The Wednesday star added that she received “unsolicited photos of men’s genitals and that was just the beginning of what was to come,” which she unfortunately witnessed the first time she opened a direct message at the age of 12.
“I used to have a Twitter account and people were like, ‘Oh, you should give it a go and create your own image’. I ended up deleting it two or three years ago because there was a ton of ridiculous images and photos after the show. I got rid of it because it was already a mess. I woke up one day and thought, ‘Oh, I don’t need this anymore’ so I shut it down,” she said.
