Jo Jung-suk talks about raising children for the first time.
On August 23, the YouTube channel “House Daesong” released a video titled “The Best Achievement Made by What’s Up | House Daesong ep.20,” in which actor Jo Jung-suk made a guest appearance.
During the broadcast, Daesung warmly welcomed Jo Jung-suk, saying, “This is the first time we’ve had a couple appear on ‘Dae-sung’s House.'” Jo Jung-suk humorously replied, “It would have been better if we’d appeared together,” looking a little disappointed. When Daesung said, “It’s still a small channel, so we’ll wait until you grow up first,” Jo Jung-suk responded, “Well, someone has to stay home and take care of the kids,” showing his fatherly side.
Daesung then brought up a past episode where Jo Jung-suk’s wife, singer Gummy, appeared on the show. He recalled telling Jo Jung-suk, “I’m a big fan of Gummy.” Gummy jokingly asked him why he didn’t tell her that. Jo Jung-suk agreed, asking, “Why didn’t you tell me then?”, drawing laughter.
When Daesung asked, “Was that a sign that you were really interested?” Jo Jung-suk joked, “If you had asked me, maybe we could have gone on a date.” Daesung responded by reflecting that he didn’t really care at the time, concluding that Jo Jung-suk was just a fan. Jo Jung-suk jokingly added, “I wasn’t even prepared to be set up on a date, but if you asked… well, I don’t know what would have happened.”
The conversation then took an unexpected turn, with Jo Jung-suk advising Daesung to “freeze his sperm.” Taken by surprise, Daesung asked, “Where would you do that? You can’t just freeze it in a freezer, right? Does our country have a system for that?” Jo Jung-suk explained, “You can go to a sperm bank.” Daesung then revealed that he and Jo Jung-suk and another friend had seriously discussed sperm banking at the Gummy concert, and that they definitely planned to have a second child. Jo Jung-suk encouraged him, saying, “If you’re planning to have a second child, I support you.”
Jo Jung-suk also spoke for the first time about his own experiences raising a child. “After giving birth, I decided to stay in the room with my baby so I could take care of all the care,” he recalled. “Waking up every two hours to feed my baby was exhausting. I couldn’t sleep at all. But after three or four days, he finally had to go to a postpartum care center, and I joined in because I wanted to be close by.”
He continued, “Nursery was great, but when it was over and I got home, the real parenting began. I was determined to do everything myself, no matter what. I didn’t want to regret it later. For almost 100 days, I did everything. During that time, I was the master of getting my baby to sleep.” He also shared some tips on how to get your baby to sleep, adding some laughter to the conversation.
When Daeseong asked Jo Jung-suk how he would feel if his daughter had a boyfriend, a visibly shaken Jo Jung-suk took a sip of his drink and admitted, “I’ve never thought about it. I can’t even imagine it.” Daeseong then asked how he would feel if her boyfriend had a similar personality to him. Jo Jung-suk replied, “If it’s someone like you, that’s fine with me. I know you’re a good person,” leading to a touching moment in the conversation.
