Expectations are high for the Auburn University football team as the 2024 season kicks off in just a few days. In Year 2 of head coach Hugh Freeze’s tenure, the Tigers are looking to reverse the tragic track record of three straight losing seasons.
Many media outlets have released their predictions for the upcoming season. On Thursday, USA TODAY Sports published their predictions for each team in college football and offered their thoughts on how each conference will fare.
I project Auburn to finish 7-5 and go 3-5 in the conference. This projection places Auburn at 11th in the SEC, ahead of Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
The conference breakdown describes the record as a return for Freese in his second year on the Plains, and while many in the public eye may not see it that way, this would be a winning record the Tigers haven’t achieved since 2020.
USA TODAY Sports projects the Georgia Bulldogs to finish atop the conference with an 11-1 overall record and a 7-1 conference record, with the Texas Longhorns following close behind at 10-2 (6-2).
Auburn fans will soon find out if the experts’ predictions are correct when the team takes on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on August 31 at 6:30 pm CST at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
