Diddy has always been in the news for tragic reasons, but this time it was revealed that his name was on the list of investors who backed Elon Musk in his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in 2022.
Court documents were made public on Wednesday (August 21) detailing the roughly 100 investors who helped Musk acquire the social media platform and transform it into what’s known as X. According to The Washington Post, a federal judge ordered X to release the names of all of its investors after a journalism nonprofit filed a motion to access the records in July.
Diddy’s Sean Combs Capital LLC was on the list, along with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Saudi Arabia’s Prince Waleed bin Talal, but it was not disclosed how much the disgraced music mogul invested in the platform or whether he still holds a stake in the company.

Company X first made the investor list public as part of a lawsuit filed last year by former Twitter employees who were fired by Musk. The employees alleged that Musk failed to compensate them after the Tesla founder bought Twitter and sued the billionaire.
While it may seem surprising that the 54-year-old music mogul would be embroiled in legal trouble, he and Musk actually have some past ties.
In 2022, Diddy, Gunna, and Musk attended a Dave Chappelle show and were seated near each other in the front row.
The two businessmen appear to have a lot in common, as they are both being sued for different reasons. The Bad Boy creator has faced numerous sexual assault and abuse allegations from various people, stemming from an initial lawsuit filed by Cassandra “Cathy” Ventura, who accused him of rape, assault, and other heinous acts. Hotel security footage released to the public even shows him punching Cassie in front of the camera.
“Let me be clear,” he continued, “I have done nothing as terrible as has been alleged, and I will fight for my reputation, my family, and the truth. Sean Diddy Combs,” he said in a statement in December 2023 following a complaint from a fourth alleged victim. Diddy’s accusations led the Department of Homeland Security to search his home.
Meanwhile, Musk is currently engaged in a number of legal battles with liberal group Media Matters, the National Labor Relations Board, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Tesla’s self-driving features.
