CNN —
Professionally, the name “Jennifer Affleck” was not very popular with Jennifer Lopez.
In divorce filings obtained by CNN, the singer and actress asks to change her name from “Jennifer Lynn Affleck” to “Jennifer Lynn Lopez.”
Earlier this week, Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of their Riceboro, Georgia wedding in 2022. She listed her separation date as April 26, 2024, meaning the two were married for a year and nine months before splitting.
The allegations come after reports that the pair have been living on different coasts over the summer, and Lopez celebrated her birthday with a Bridgerton-themed party in late July, though Affleck was not among those in attendance.
In February, Lopez released her self-produced album, “This Is Me… Now,” as well as a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which tells the story of her decades-long search for self-love.
In the film, Affleck says he learned to “compromise” about Lopez’s desire to be more public about her private life.
Their divorce marks the latest twist in a love story between the two superstars that has dominated the public’s attention for decades.
Lopez and Affleck’s marriage comes more than 20 years after they first met on the set of the comedy “Giri.” The two played hard-working criminals together and developed a real-life friendship that later blossomed into a romantic relationship. They called off their planned wedding in 2003 and reconciled in 2021.
Lopez cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.
