Well, I don't mind having more flights (maybe few more flights per day is ok during the day). Nothing at night please. The planes are loud, and think how many people are living and working in Canary.
🙌🙌🙌
Putting an airport in the middle of a city is rather a foolish thing to do in the first place.
I live in the vicinity of LCA – it's a great airport and I'm never bothered by the noise.
Good news….London is the biggest air market on the planet. Expanding capacity will drive economic growth.
Hang on, did I just hear Sir Keir Starmer say "the big ones: coal; steam; oil and gas" Steam, yeah it's a…big problem. Well, we've just got to transition away from steam…..
I live near City Airport and the noise to annoying! I work night shifts, so coming home to get some sort of sleep for the next night shift is pretty hard to come by.
I admire London putting restrictions on night and weekend flying. In the regional airports such as Edinburgh where I live they have virtually 24/7 flying including some ridiculous slots like Belfast and Dublin arrivals after 1 am. Commerce has trumped people’s right to get a good night’s sleep and it’s getting worse 😡
Next move is to grant Heathrow a third runway
The issue should not be "Why we can't do this", it should be, "How can we do this?" Is the noise pollution a problem? Yes. Is the air pollution a problem? Yes. Problems can be overcome. If it is worth doing and easily done, everyone would be doing it. So it's time we ask those in power to do something difficult and do something great for us. Doing great things is not easy, but great things can be done.
Anyone with a brain would realize that airport expansion would reduce emissions. By not expanding it the flights will just go to other airports further away. Adding more ground transport emissions. This situation is like trying to dam a river with pebbles
And so the scourge of perpetual population growth continues…..
Why do green people even exist
This country needs to back off with rising prices! Literally making life so hard for people!!
No consideration for air pollution, shame
I live in the London City airport neighborhood, and the noise pollution is noticeable in the evening rush hour when aircraft take off westward. They tend to take off eastward in the morning, which doesn't affect anyone, and landings aren't particularly noisy. However, the type of aircraft makes a big difference: Embraer E190 are terrible, while the A220 is rather quiet. The expansion should only be granted on the basis of phasing out the Embraer aircraft, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Less sleep for all of us on the flight path. Are they going to play for the double glazing ?😠
The airport can take more passengers with existing number of slots by jointly completing the takeoff, landing and steep-approach certification of the A220-300 with Airbus.
The UK delaying expanding airports is yet another example the decline of this country. We're slowly destroying our economy bit by bit. Very sad to see.
It worked! Put in a false bid to overturn Saturday afternoon flights, to allow the real bid to pass… More private jets taking flight!
