ESCANABA, Miss. (WLUC) – Health officials and Bay College students and staff on Thursday celebrated the new opening of the Child and Adolescent Health Center on Bay’s Escanaba campus.
The Youth Health and Wellness Center opened July 1. It provides physical and mental health care for everyone ages 10-21.
The clinic is a partnership between the Public Health Department of Delta and Menominee Counties (PHDM) and the university. According to PHDM Health Officer Mike Snyder, the clinic has already seen more than 300 patients.
“You don’t have to be a Bay Area student. You don’t have to be a Delta County resident. You can come in from anywhere and get seen at the Youth Health and Wellness Center,” Snyder said. “If you have insurance, we’ll bill you. If you can’t pay, there’s no charge.”
Students in grades 6-12 can get free sports physicals through Aug. 30. To make an appointment, call 906-786-1672 or email thecenter@phdm.org. The center is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
