ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) – St. Louis’ only free and independent sports and entertainment network launched Thursday.
Matrix Midwest currently airs over the air on Spectrum/Charter channels 32 and 186. Gray Media launched Matrix Midwest to run alongside sister station First Alert 4 (KMOV-TV) in St. Louis.
“The Midwest is demanding more unique sports and entertainment content, and we’re proud to provide a new local platform to give the community what they want,” said JD Sosnoff, vice president and general manager, Matrix Midwest & KMOV-TV. “This new network will provide fans with free sports programming through key collaborations, such as our partnership with the University of Missouri.”
Beginning on August 29, Matrix Midwest, along with sponsor Paytient, will launch Mizzou Live, an exclusive SEC pre- and post-game show in collaboration with the University of Missouri and Learfield, the media and technology company behind college sports. This is the only show of its kind in the Midwest, giving viewers exclusive access to their favorite team and special analysis from former player and NFL star Justin Gage. The show will air statewide and be available in seven markets in Missouri: St. Louis (Matrix Midwest), Kansas City (KSMO), Cape Girardeau (KFVS-TOO), Springfield (KYCW), Hannibal (WGEM), St. Joseph (ONPN, News-Press NOW) and Columbia (KZOU).
“This innovative partnership with KMOV-TV, Matrix Midwest and Gray Media will be fantastic for fans across our great state,” said University of Missouri Athletic Director Laird Veitch. “The University of Missouri brand will be on television in a unique way at every game and on ‘Missouri Live,’ increasing our presence from St. Louis to Kansas City and everywhere in between. We appreciate KMOV’s commitment to helping us continue to grow and evolve.”
On Tuesday nights, Matrix Midwest will air Tiger Talk with Head Coach Elijah Drinkwitz as they gear up for an unstoppable season, which fans will get a first look at each week exclusively on Matrix Midwest and affiliates across the state of Missouri.
In addition to Mizzou Live and Tiger Talk, Matrix Midwest will also broadcast NFL Network’s Good Morning Football: Overtime, which will air weekdays from 9-11 a.m. beginning Sept. 2.
“Meaningful partnerships like the one we’re building with the University of Missouri and sports franchises across the state and nation demonstrate Matrix Midwest and Grey Media’s dedication to our communities,” said Mike King, senior managing vice president and chief marketing officer, Grey Media.
Matrix Midwest’s schedule also includes special programming and regular collaborations with the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis City SC, Kansas City Chiefs, HBCU Go Sports, Raycom Sports, the Harlem Globetrotters and more.
Matrix Midwest combines all of this with a wide range of entertainment programming, including Extra, Entertainment Tonight, MyNetworkTV Prime Shows, Great Day St. Louis, My St. Louis Live and news from First Alert 4. If you’re a fan of the region’s culture, lifestyle and sports, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your appetite at Matrix Midwest.
