Report: Patriots are among teams interested in left tackle Dennis Daly. Originally published on NBC Sports Boston
The New England Patriots may need some strengthening, or at least a little more depth, at the left tackle position ahead of their Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 8.
Dennis Daly is one to watch.
Boston Globe reporter Christopher Price reported Tuesday that the Patriots were among several teams that had inquired about Daly, the 28-year-old offensive tackle who was waived by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday.
The Patriots are one of several teams that have inquired about offensive lineman Dennis Dailey, who played 15 games at left tackle for the Titans in 2022. The 28-year-old has played both guard and tackle in his NFL career and spent most of the 2023 season on IR, according to league sources.

Dailey was a sixth-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2019. After three seasons with the Panthers, he joined the Tennessee Titans in 2022 and the Cardinals in 2023. He has appeared in 54 games (37 starts) over five seasons, but only played three games (one start) with Arizona last season.
Dailey played both left tackle and left guard in the pros. During the 2022 season, he started 15 of 17 games at left tackle for the Titans.
The Patriots’ leading candidates to start at left tackle are Vedrian Rowe and Chukwuma Okorafor. Neither are the best options at the position. The entire offensive line has been a concern over the summer and throughout training camp. The group was dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles in a joint practice at Gillette Stadium last week.
Rowe also may have been injured during practice on Wednesday.
Vederian Rowe, who was the team’s top option at left tackle for much of training camp and the preseason, left practice about halfway through today. He put his hand on his side/hip before leaving and walked out under his own power.

Strengthening left tackle should have happened months ago via the draft or free agency, but since that didn’t happen, the Patriots will have to either strengthen with players already on the roster or look to the waiver wire/free agency before Week 1.
Daly is one of many players who will be released over the next six days. All 32 teams have until Tuesday, Aug. 27 to reduce their rosters to 53 players.
