According to PEOPLE, popular TV personality Jax Taylor is set to return to filming for season two of “The Valley,” which began production on its sophomore season earlier this summer, after completing inpatient treatment at a psychiatric facility. He entered the facility following a long-term mental health struggle that came after a difficult period during his separation from his wife, Brittany Cartwright.
“Jax has been in treatment for the past 30 days and is expected to return home later this week,” a rep for The Valley star confirmed to People magazine on August 19. Though ex-wife Cartwright supports Taylor’s decision to seek treatment for his unstable mental health, the source added, “She wants nothing to do with him.”
The former couple first met nearly a decade ago, in 2015. Since then, their relationship has been documented on Vanderpump Rules, the spinoff Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky, and most recently, The Valley. They married on June 29, 2019, and welcomed their son, Cruz Michael Couch, nearly two years later on April 12, 2021.
News of their split broke ahead of the premiere of season one of The Valley in early February, during which Cartwright told People magazine that he was “a little relieved” after splitting with Taylor, and admitted that he needed time to clear his head.
As for filming for season 2 of The Valley, a source told PEOPLE that the former couple are not able to be in the same room or communicate peacefully at this time, adding that Cartwright is determined to move on and is getting the support she needs from friends and family.
The source added, “There are two sides to every story and Jax has his opinion which will be addressed when he returns. Additionally, the second season will undoubtedly be one of a kind. Viewers are set to witness some heated drama. It will be the most unpredictable, no holds barred season in the history of reality TV.”
In season 1 of The Valley, viewers saw Taylor and Cartwright disagree on several issues, including trying to have a second child. Season 1 of The Valley is currently streaming on Peacock, but get ready to witness some unique fun, drama, and maybe romance (we really hope) in season 2 of the show.
