Janet Jackson is hosting a New Year’s Eve party at the Resorts World Theatre and plans to stay for quite some time.
Jackson will perform on Dec. 30 and 31, Jan. 3 and 4, and Feb. 5, 7, 8, 12, 14 and 15, the resort, booking partner AEG Presents and Jackson himself announced on social media on Wednesday.
“Janet Jackson is undoubtedly a giant in pop music,” Bobby Reynolds, senior vice president, AEG Presents, said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to close out 2024 with her return to the Las Vegas Strip and her debut at the award-winning Resorts World Theatre, and kick off 2025 with a show that’s sure to be unforgettable — a permanent fixture that fans won’t want to miss.”
Tickets go on sale Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. at AXS.com or rwlasvegas.com/entertainment . Information about the show can be found on those sites.
Jackson headlined Metamorphsis, a total of 18 shows at Dolby Live, from May to August 2019. She first appeared in Las Vegas in December 1974, when she was 8 years old and performed with the rest of the Jackson 5 family at the original MGM Grand (now the Horseshoe Las Vegas).
Jackson’s performance is part of a revival of the venue that also sees Carrie Underwood extend her “Reflection” show through 2025, Kevin Hart remain in the headlining lineup and Celine Dion return next year. Underwood is the last of Resorts World Theatre’s four original headliners still performing at the venue.
Katy Perry and Luke Bryan have both finished performing, while Dion has postponed since announcing the Superstar Roster for 2021. Underwood will continue the series this weekend.
