UAE airports are expected to handle more than 71 million passengers in the first half of 2024, up 14.2 percent from the same period last year, according to a report by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, UAE Director-General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, attributed the growth to the success of UAE policies aimed at developing infrastructure, improving legislation and fostering digital transformation in the aviation industry.
He also highlighted the important role of the national airline in gaining international recognition and competitiveness.
GCAA is actively developing cooperation with other countries by signing air transportation agreements with most countries in the world, enabling the expansion of air routes and increasing passenger numbers.
In addition to passenger traffic, cargo traffic is also increasing at UAE airports, with a total volume reaching 2.16 million tonnes in the first half of the year.
