(MENAFN – Egypt Daily News) Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat met on Monday with Egyptian ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, underscoring the North African country’s determination to strengthen economic ties with both Gulf states.
During his meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Egypt Saleh bin Eid Al Hussaini, Al-Mashat stressed the long-standing and close ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and underscored Egypt’s readiness to develop cooperation in various fields, noting that the Egyptian government is committed to creating a more favorable investment environment to attract both domestic and foreign private investment.
Al-Mashat expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (representing the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD)) for supporting and funding development projects in Egypt, in line with the Egyptian government’s development efforts and Egypt Vision 2030. He detailed the diversity of projects funded by SFD, which range across various sectors, including health, education, supply, irrigation, electricity, transport, roads and bridges, agriculture and housing. Projects currently being implemented in Egypt include housing complexes, the King Salman University project, horizontal silos for grain storage, the development of Qasr Al Aini Hospital, irrigation and drainage pumping stations and the establishment of basic medical units.
Al-Mashat also met with UAE Ambassador and Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Maryam Khalifa Al-Kabi, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
Welcoming the UAE ambassador in Cairo, Foreign Minister Al Mashat underscored the strong ties between Egypt and the UAE, highlighting their common history and culture. Noting the frequent visits by the leaders of the two countries and the deep-rooted historical ties, Al Mashat underscored the Egyptian government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
She also noted the development of the industrial partnership between Egypt, the UAE, Jordan and Bahrain, revealing that economic relations have entered a new phase with the launch of the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Development, which aims to boost cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, food, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, textiles, metals and petrochemicals.
Al-Mashat affirmed the government’s efforts to attract and encourage local and foreign investments, stimulate private sector growth, improve the country’s overall financial and economic performance, and meet the aspirations of the Egyptian people for development and progress.
Al Mashat underscored the government’s commitment to creating a favorable environment for investment in the UAE across various sectors and enhancing cooperation through efforts to support economic development and the transition to a green economy.
Al-Mashat expressed his gratitude to the UAE, represented by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, for its support and funding for Egypt’s development projects in line with the Egyptian government’s development efforts and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The meeting also discussed the status of the ongoing cooperation programs between Egypt and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, including grants for small-scale projects. Cooperation between Egypt and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development began in 1974, with the Fund becoming one of Egypt’s main development partners, contributing to a number of priority projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, electricity, housing, roads and agricultural development.
