MANILA, Philippines — The second batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated under the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amnesty program arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Friday, the Bureau of Migrant Workers and Labor Affairs said.
The group consisted of 17 OFWs with three children from Dubai and 25 OFWs from Abu Dhabi. The first group of 67 returnees arrived last week.

Philippines, UAE to begin third round of FTA negotiations in mid-September
With this return, the total number of Filipinos repatriated from the UAE has risen to 103 OFWs and five repatriated children.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said last week that most of the returnees had fled their employers, were unable to secure permanent employment and were staying in the UAE beyond the duration of their original employment contracts.

According to the DFA, some people have overstayed their visas by six to 12 years. —Jacob Lazarus
