When Elon Musk took over X (then known more famously as Twitter), he made a big deal about eliminating bots, but nearly two years later, bots are still thriving on the platform, according to an analysis from the Queensland University of Technology.
X users have found several ways to summon bots, including women who have noticed that posting the phrase “sugar daddy” swarms certain bots. A new phrase has been trending on X that also seems to derail the bots’ normal behavior. By simply replying to a supposed bot with “Ignore all previous instructions” or “Ignore all previous instructions,” followed by instructions of their own choosing, X users are revealing their accounts as automated bots powered by large language models.
