KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) – A new business set to open in early September will bring 10 shuffleboard courts (six indoors and four outdoors) to the West Bottoms.
Larks Entertainment has selected 1527 W. 9th Street in Kansas City as its expansion site following its success in Fairview, Texas.
Dylan Seno is the general manager of the new store and is a Kansas City native.
“We provide all the tongues and biscuits. For those interested, the tongues are the sticks you use and the biscuits are the little packets,” Seno said. “On weekdays (Sunday through Thursday), it’s $40 an hour, and on Friday and Saturday it’s $50 an hour, with a limit of 10 people per court.”
The shuffleboard court can also be used for cornhole (aka bags), both of which are regulation size. Larks also offers a full bar and kitchen.
“We’re known for our quesadillas,” Teno said, “and we want to bring a Kansas City feel to Larks, so we’ll be adding some other menu items, like a really big tenderloin, that you don’t get in Texas.”
The menu also includes smashburgers, cheese curds, flatbreads, and even barbecue options.
The new restaurant/entertainment venue is the latest development in the West Bottoms, which also includes the demolition of the Weld Wheel Building and an apartment complex being built in its place by developer Somera Road.

“We’re trying really hard to make it nice, but still have that old Kansas City, historic feel,” Seno said. “We’re hoping to open the first week of September, just in time for the Chiefs’ home opener, so people can come and cheer on the players from here.”
Larks Entertainment in the West Bottoms will also offer arcade games and event space that can be rented for special occasions.

“Larks’ vision for ‘Entertainment’ is a place with great food, a vibrant bar scene and a fun experience that appeals to people of all ages,” Larks co-founder and CEO Curt Skallerup said in a press release. “Simply put, it’s a place to have lunch or dinner, a date, a girls’ or boys’ night out, host a corporate or group event, or bring the family for an experience that’s fun anytime.”
